Healthy Kearns

As part of MyKearns Coalition, Healthy Kearns's mission is to support and expand the efforts of the community board, with the philosophy that the more mentally and physically healthy an individual is, the more effectively they can avoid the pitfalls of tobacco, drug, and alcohol misuse, and live productive, connected, and happy lives. Our goal is to implement strategies that will improve mental and physical well-being, with specific objectives to reduce depression and anxiety, prevent self-harm, help people achieve and maintain healthy weight, and decrease chronic conditions related to common unhealthy lifestyles.

Our Executive Team

The volunteers who make MyKearns possible.

MyKearns Community Coalition is managed by the Community Board. The Board maintains a membership of at least 12 individuals, who represent systems, agencies, Kearns residents and parents, service providers, schools, and other involved and interested parties. The Board is the primary decision-making body for the MyKearns Coalition, selecting priority risk and protective factors, deciding which tested, effective programs to implement, and generally overseeing the development of the Coalition's efforts. Board members are invited to join the Board based on their affiliations, willingness, and ability to serve, and special skills and expertise.

Every person on our Executive Committee gives their time, expertise, and heart — because they believe in Kearns.

Past Issues

January 2026 — A New Year for Kearns

January 2026 · Issue #13

Happy New Year, Kearns! We're stepping into 2026 with momentum, purpose, and a community that continues to show up for one another. Last year was remarkable — this year, we're building on it.

🎉 2025 By the Numbers

12 community events  ·  5,000+ residents connected to resources  ·  7 active workgroups  ·  30+ partner organizations  ·  100% volunteer-led. None of this happens without YOU.

🌱 2026 Priorities

This year, MyKearns is focused on three big goals: expanding our Youth Involvement workgroup, deepening housing stability resources, and growing our newsletter community.

👋 Welcome New Members

We welcomed 14 new volunteers in December 2025 — our biggest single-month recruitment ever. If you've been thinking about getting involved, now is the time.

Here's to an incredible 2026 — Janet Reyes & the MyKearns Community Coalition · [email protected]

December 2025 — Year in Review & Holiday Gratitude

December 2025 · Issue #12

Dear Kearns Community — As 2025 draws to a close, we want to pause and say something simple: thank you. Thank you for showing up, for sharing, for giving your time, and for believing that Kearns deserves better.

🏆 Community Highlight: Housing Stability

In partnership with the Utah Community Court and local legal volunteers, MyKearns connected 47 Kearns families with free eviction prevention resources in 2025. That's 47 families who didn't lose their homes.

🎄 Holiday Resource Reminder

The holidays can be stressful. If you or someone you know needs support — food, housing, health insurance, or a connection to the right resource — please reach out.

📣 Looking Ahead to 2026

We're already planning big things for 2026 — more events, a growing Youth Involvement program, and deeper community data work. Join a workgroup. Your skills are needed.

With love and gratitude — Janet Reyes & the MyKearns Community Coalition · [email protected]

November 2025 — Building Bridges in Kearns

November 2025 · Issue #11

Kearns Neighbors — November brought us one of our biggest community moments of the year. Our Resource Assessment workgroup completed a full neighborhood survey — and the results are already shaping our priorities for 2026.

📊 Survey Says: What Kearns Needs Most

Top three needs identified by Kearns residents: (1) Affordable healthcare navigation, (2) Youth after-school programs, (3) Housing stability resources. These will drive our 2026 workgroup priorities.

🤝 New Partner: Promise Partnership Utah

We're thrilled to welcome Promise Partnership Utah as a MyKearns community partner. Their focus on youth education aligns perfectly with our Youth Involvement workgroup goals.

💪 Volunteer of the Month

This month we spotlight Maria Lopez, who has volunteered at every MyKearns event this year and leads our bilingual outreach efforts. Thank you, Maria!
